Acting for Screen & Stage is a young actors’ studio combining improvisation, acting technique, screen work and performance.
In Term 4, we’re putting self-devised work at the centre of the room.
Rather than beginning with a finished script, we’ll start with the actors - creating worlds, characters, relationships and stories through immersive improvisation and ensemble work. We’ll take the ideas that come alive in the room and begin shaping them into original material for the camera.
Along the way, students will continue developing their acting craft: listening and responding, character and relationships, working with text, understanding what the camera sees, and exploring how performance changes between stage and screen.
Our aim is to work towards an original filmed ensemble piece, developed by the students through improvisation and self-devised work. The final form will grow out of what we discover together — allowing room for experimentation, play and the unexpected.
In Term 4 students will:
Create characters, relationships and stories through improvisation
Explore immersive and ensemble performance
Develop original ideas collaboratively
Continue building acting technique for both screen and stage
Explore how improvised work can be shaped and refined for camera
Work towards an original filmed piece at the end of term
No previous acting experience is necessary, and newcomers are very welcome.
